The Mental Game of Productivity: Managing Your Mind for Success

Hey there! In my first post, I was all about how keeping your head clear is the secret to getting things done, and I wanted to expand on that further. My first example of a productivity blunder was when I didn’t follow my routine. Because of that, I wasn’t focused and couldn’t fit everything in that I wanted to get done. But you know what? Productivity isn’t just about the importance of a routine; it's about wrangling those messy thoughts and dealing with those not-so-great moods we all go through.

Next time, we're gonna dig deep into starting your day early. Seriously, you’ve got to find a thing that kickstarts your day and clears the fog from your mind before you get going. But first, I want to touch on ways you can ensure your mind stays free to focus on priorities. Let me share what works for me. First of all, I always try to get adequate sleep. Then, each morning, I set intentions, write affirmations, and practice visualizations as part of my routine. This takes me about 20 minutes and sets the tone for the day.

The first step in ensuring a productive day is to carve out time at the start to positively influence the mood and pace. Setting intentions and giving myself time to just sit for a few minutes allows me to prepare for any disruptions I may face. If life (usually work) gets too wild, I check in on my intentions, self-reflect, or take a mini-break.

There are myriad ways to prepare mentally – journaling, a quick workout, zen time, talking to a friend, or just drinking your coffee on the porch. I bought this affirmation book for my family and me to help with our manifestation journeys to work with the quick guide I created. You might find it helpful as you begin to write affirmations as well.

Oh, and a quick reminder: cut yourself some slack. Not every day’s gonna be a winner, and that’s cool. Give yourself permission for a low-key day; you’ll bounce back tomorrow.
